The 2018 NAMIWalks Northwest was a huge success for NAMI Multnomah (and all neighboring NAMI affiliates)!!

We want to say a huge thank you to our community for the incredible outpouring of support we received during this year’s Walk. We came SO far in meeting our goal!

NAMI Multnomah had originally set out to make $25,000, and later bumped this to $30,000 because of the incredible work you all were doing — and we pulled in over $40,000! Thank you to each and every one of you for making this happen. We are so grateful for all that you do!

To quote Michelle Madison at NAMI Oregon in her reflections about this year’s Walk (because we simply couldn’t say it better):

You should all be VERY proud – this was not only our largest walk in terms of participation (7,500 showed up, 5,000 walked), and not only did we hit our $225K goal on walk day (another first) – we passed our goal and raised $237,603.47!!!

Why is this significant?

Because that many people are with us. That many people – donors, walkers, captains, volunteers, friends and family members – are demanding that mental health is a priority. We’re not going backwards. We are NOT going to be treated like second-class citizens by insurance companies, or the general public, or anyone else.

Illness is illness. It should not be a source of shame. Thank you for promoting this idea and changing minds and lives.

Thank you to each and every one of you who shared information, helped us fundraise and showed up to walk with us!

In deep appreciation,
The NAMI Multnomah Team

2017 NAMI Walk

The NAMI Walk is a truly incredible and unique event. Each year we bring together thousands of people from all backgrounds with one common goal; to help fight the stigma around mental health in our community. Mental illness is an issue that should be talked about more. While there will never be a simple cure for the many ways that it affects us, learning positive coping skills and the confidence to live a full life are what NAMI is all about.

The 2018 Walk was our largest to date — with 7,500 attendees and 5,000 walkers, we were truly in awe of the incredible impact this event had on our community!

We offer support, education and advocacy through our:

  • Educational classes and support groups for individuals and family members
  • Peer Support Specialist Training
  • Family Partner program through Multnomah County Wraparound
  • Resource Navigation HelpLine
  • Community presentations
  • Community events

Every one of these classes, trainings, groups, presentations and programs are offered at absolutely no cost for our community. The main reasons we are able to do this is through support from our networks and donors like you spreading the word about the work we do.

Check out some of the photos from this year’s Walk! If you have any more to share, please send them to us at!
