NAMI is a peer-based, grassroots organization and volunteers play a vital role in the life of NAMI Multnomah. Our volunteers facilitate our classes and support groups, serve on panels, share their stories out in the community, advocate for better systems and work on a wide variety of administrative tasks. Volunteers enable NAMI Multnomah to live out its mission so that our services and outreach can remain strong and continue to grow within the larger community!
To become a volunteer, you will first need to attend a volunteer orientation. We host volunteer orientations on the 2nd Wednesday at 3:00 PM and the 4th Tuesday at 5:30 PM. Volunteer orientations are held at the NAMI Multnomah office, 524 NE 52nd Ave. Portland, OR 97213. Volunteer orientations are open to anyone, so come on by! For more information please contact the HelpLine at 503-228-5692.
Here are some directions for finding us:
Our Building
We are located in a 4-plex apartment building that has been converted into office space on the corner of 52nd Ave and Hoyt St., in the unit on the first floor to the left as you approach our building. The front entrance has three steps to navigate. This building has an accessible entrance without stairs through the back door.
Transportation
If you are taking public transportation, we are located one to two blocks off of the TriMet #19 bus line. If you plan to drive, please plan for a little extra time to find parking as on-street parking can be difficult to find. You can also park in the Providence parking garages in the visitor parking spaces.
