Veteran Family Support Services
NAMI Multnomah is now offering free one-on-one peer support for the family members and loved ones of Veterans! These services are offered free of charge to close family members and loved ones of a Veteran such as a parent, sibling, spouse/partner, adult child, or another personal connection who plays a role in supporting and caregiving for a Veteran in their life. While we focus on supporting family members and loved ones in Multnomah County, we also are able to support folks in other parts of Oregon.
If you have any questions about this program, contact NAMI Multnomah at 503-228-5692 or info@namimultnomah.org.
Our Veteran Family Support Specialists use their personal experiences with military culture, mental health challenges, and recovery to uniquely support family members, spouses, and loved ones of Veterans experiencing mental health challenges.
Who would benefit from Veteran & Military Family Peer Support?
Anyone who can relate to these perspectives:
“I met my partner after their military service, and I haven’t been close to anyone who has served. It would be great to connect with someone who can relate.”
“I need help staying on track with day-to-day responsibilities outside of my personal relationships with veteran family members. It’s challenging at times.”
"I've noticed that the day-to-day stresses in my life don't seem to be letting up. I do a lot to support my veteran family member's access to the available services. I could use some help finding balance in my life."
“I know there are programs to support my brother and my dad, who are veterans. I know my ex-wife was connected to services when we were married. It would be beneficial to receive support to get back on track and find ways to improve my situation as a veteran family member.”
These confidential services can be offered in person or remotely via phone or video chat. A provider may complete referrals using the form below, or you can self-refer to our program.
